COMPETITION RULES & NOTES

Strokeplay Competitions
The handicap limit in medal and stableford competitions is 28

Courtesy  Competitions (aka Drawn competitions) 
Entry sheets for these will be posted on the Competitions Notice Board four (4) weeks prior to the competition date.
Enter only your own name on the entry sheet; those unable to do so may enter through the Secretary or any Committee member.
Order of play will be posted not later than the Tuesday prior to the event.
Late entries will only be accepted in exceptional circumstances and not later than 36 hours before the first T time. Such entries will only be accepted as replacements for cancellations and/or withdrawals
No additional T times will be added to the original draw.
Withdrawals must be notified to the Sports Convenor, Secretary or Links starter before 19.00 on the evening prior to the competition.

N.B. Failure to  comply with this ruling may lead to a ban from the next  competition entered. No-shows will automatically be excluded from the next competition entered.

Non-Courtesy Competitions

N.B. These are entered by entering name in the computer in the main lounge before playing. Starter will also record entry and issue a date stamped card. Entries will only be accepted on stamped cards. Playing companions and T times are the responsibility of members.

Wallace Watch and Carlow & Greig Medals are played from the White Tees and Sunday & Junior Medals from the Yellow Tees.

Juniors playing in Junior medals should, where possible, play in a combination of 1 Junior & 1/2 Adult members or 2 Juniors and 1 Adult member.

Recording scores
All strokeplay competitions scores should be entered in the computer in the main lounge and cards placed in the lectern box adjacent to the computer.

Matchplay competitions
Maximum handicap for all matchplay competitions is 20 and full differences apply unless stated otherwise on draw sheets. All handicap reductions become effective immediately.

Entry and draw sheets are posted in the sports corridor. These show challenge and play by dates for each round. Sports committee reserve the right to eliminate players who do not complete their rounds within these dates.

The CHALLENGER in all matchplay competitions is the first named (Top of draw) player. He is required to offer three (3) dates excluding Sundays, with no more than two dates in any one week. CHALLENGEES  have equal responsibility for arrangement of ties.
 
Challengers are required to notify their opponents by telephone or personal contact of the proposed dates at least  seven days before first challenge date. Latest contact date should be not later than ten days before playby date. Agreed dates should then be entered on the draw sheet in Sports Corridor.

Not withstanding the above, ties may be played at any mutually agreed date and time within the stipulated round period.
If a mutually agreed date and time cannot be reached, sports committee can be asked to adjudicate and impose a date and time. Any disputes should be referred to the sports committee at the earliest possible moment.

In the event of ties remaining unplayed by playby date, both parties will be eliminated.

Extensions to playby dates will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.

TIED MATCHES

All tied matches will be decided by sudden death play off (Strokes taken as per the stroke index). A tied bisque match will be decided by a full 18 hole replay.

NB No member whose subscription remains unpaid for the current year, whose handicap has lapsed or been suspended may play in any competition. Members whose handicap has lapsed  may partake in strokeplay events to re-establish their handicaps. (Three cards required, though these can be returned from bounce games with suitably signed cards.)

Any player, whose handicap has lapsed and which has not been re-established,   entering a competition will be required to play off scratch until such time as his handicap is re-established.
